BREAKING NEWS (10:20 a.m.): Explosion at McCamy Law Firm

There was an explosion at the McCamy Law Firm near downtown Dalton at approximately 10 this morning resulting in multiple injuries. According to witnesses, the windows of the building were blown out and at least one person had his clothes burned off. He was being taken to the hospital.

Officials have one person in custody and are questioning him. Schools in the area are on lockdown.

Steve Williams, one of the attorneys at the firm, said he was next door at the post office when he heard a loud explosion. He did not know how many people were in the building when the explosion happened.

John Ward was driving down Thornton Avenue when he pulled into a parking lot after he saw smoke billowing from the north. Ward went to the scene and saw one person taken out on a stretcher. Police, fire and medical personnel arrived.

"I figured it was time for me to go," Ward said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is en route to the scene.

Check back for updates throughout the day.
